Design Wall Monday

Last Design Wall Monday post of  the year!  I'm so proud of myself that I was able to post each Monday of 2010.  My last design wall is short and sweet.  The only sewing this week was on my drunkard's path blocks.  I needed three blocks to be caught up this week and that's what I made.  You can see close up shots of the three new blocks here.  I don't know how much sewing I'll get in this week as I must clean the sewing room first!
I had a great Christmas, spending time with my family.  Dy daughter got me really, really good.  I was invited Christmas morning to breakfast at her home with a few of her friends.  Don't ask me how I ended up preparing the meal.  LOL  I was a little behind in cleaning my home for afternoon guest but it all worked out in the end.  I received a few quilt related items, a watch I'd been eyeing for about five months, and a Wii.  Now I can go purchase Wii Fit Plus.  I so wanted the system, hoping it will encourage me to exercise.

Leave me a message stating what favorite item you received during the holiday.  I'll draw for a winner of a Moda Half Moon Charm Pack at 12 Noon on December 31st.  It has 42 squares so some are duplicates.  Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and wishing you a Happy New Year!

  1. I received a lot of great gifts this year, including a Cricut and several fonts to go with it -- I can see some applique quilts in my future (Yes, the cricut cuts fabric, if prepared correctly!)

I received several DVDs, and quilty books ....

But, I think my favorite came from my nieces (aged 2 yr 3 mo, and 7 mo. They got me a really cool book (doodle book) with spirographs! Something completely fun and 'silly.' :D And, because it came from them .. extra special. :D

  7. I am thrilled that I received a new camera for Christmas and the software has been set up on the computer that I use - just for me! I also was gifted The Quilter's Album of Patchwork Patterns by Jinney Beyer. My husband didn't order it until Christmas Eve so I am eagerly awaiting its arrival. I did give myself the Quiltmaker 100 Blocks mag and I am considering joining you on your journey. Thank you.

  8. I got a Mango Marguerita Bali Pop! Ooh the colors a so beautiful. This may jump start my charm quilt challenge. I can relate to your daughters invite. It seems when my son asks me for help I end up doing the whole thing. You have to admit they're pretty smart! Or I'm pretty dumb... Merry Christmas & Happy New Year Tea!

  9. My DD#2 restored an old frame and picture for me as a present. By restore, I mean rebuild the frame and make the matting etc. including getting a glass. All I had was the broken frame and an 45 year old photo of a 55 year old photo. Now I have a work of art!

  10. Hum, I had to think about this a bit we've only had Christmas with one of our children so more will coming. Can I say two? My brother sent hubby and I a couple of bottles of wine that he made. That will be a lot of fun to use. And, dd gave me the newest Pajama Quilter CD and workbook. Fun!

  12. Beautiful drunkard's path blocks!

The best gift I received this Christmas was the time with my family. Not that I didn't get some really great gifts, but I don't often get to spend time with the whole clan in one place and we did this year!

  15. I love your drunkard path blocks - especially in the blue - orange colour picked! As for my favorite xmas gift: when I visited home over Thanksgiving, I picked out a beautiful wooden moon made out of South American wood. It was made by a local artist of my hometown in Germany, so looking at it here in Michigan has special meaning! Thanks so much for the giveaway!

  16. Glad you had a wonderful Christmas. My kids were all here and they gave me gift cards from Hancock Fabrics, Target and Kohls, but the best gift I got was from my husband was a bible and a small sewing machine to take to my classes.

  18. For Christmas this year, I got a GC for getting a Pedicure, and I got some bath lotion and bubble bath. I think I love the bubble bath the best because that is my quiet time to relax and unwind, and DH recognized that. It is nice that he knows that and got me a scent that is lovely. I will relax (and sometimes snooze) in the tub and think about the quilts that I want to make, and the designs that I would love to do.. that is relaxing to me LOL..

  21. Sounds like a lovely Christmas--the Wii should be fun. I didn't cook other than to make two cheesecakes but did end up washing dishes by myself at my Mom and Dad's for about an hour after Christmas dinner. They just kept coming...

My best gift this year was a new sewing desk with an air lift and attached fold out extension on the back that supports the quilts while machine quilting. I love it (thanks DH!)

  22. I got a new cutting mat and a little sewing kit from my 7 yr old son. He told me that the sewing kit was for sewing in the living room.

  23. The orange and blue look wonderful together.

My husband got me GPS for Christmas. I go to lots of out of town Quilting events, and I tell him he has to stay by the phone in case I get lost going there, which is most of the time. Now if a road is closed for construction I can still find my way.

  28. We haven't had Christmas with our family yet, but the best thing about Christmas day was the annual Christmas breakfast with our friends. We all have children living out of state and are usually alone that day while our grown up kids have Christmas with their little ones. This is the sixth year and we all appreciate having dear friends.

Drunkard's Path or as a friend calls it, Pie and Crust block is a fav of mine and your colors put it over the top!!!!

  34. We moved from overseas to the US over Christmas weekend, so didn't do much at all for Christmas except a tiny bit with the kids. Our best "gift" was having a relatively uneventful trip and arriving safely to awaiting family!

  35. Your Drunkards Path block are great. You do have a way with color! The best gift I got was having my family together. We so seldom spend quality time together. My son Josh surprised me with a vintage Nintendo system plus my favorite game for it "Duck Hunt".

  36. Chocolate! My husband knows what I like, and Lindor Extra Dark Truffles are da bom. (I don't even know what da bom means, but it sounds appropriate in this sentence.) I love seeing the different settings of drunkard's path. Thanks for sharing!
